Volunteer Opportunities

Attention Current and Future Volunteers!

Beginning on May 1, 2017, HPL will be requiring all new volunteers to attend orientation prior to working at HPL. Orientation will be held two times a month:  the first Wednesday and the third Saturday.  All orientation sessions begin at 10 a.m.

At orientation, new volunteers will be shown how to muck as well as perform other duties on the ranch.  If new volunteers come to the ranch on a regular volunteer day (Wednesday or Saturday), they cannot perform work unless they have attended a required orientation class at HPL. A tour will be offered to those who come but have not yet attended orientation.

Tours will be offered at 10 AM and 12 noon each Wednesday and Saturday.  To ensure the safety of visitors and volunteers while on the ranch property, they must sign HPL liability and safety forms.

Please address any questions/concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator, Melloney Millward, at melloneym@gmail.com.

Looking forward to your visit!

How to Volunteer at HPL

We always need volunteers! We have volunteers from all walks of life, some bring lots of horse experience, other have no experience with horses.

Open volunteer days are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here’s what we do:

  • Muck
  • Clean and fill water tanks
  • Groom and care for horses
  • Ranch maintenance

Children are welcome, under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Orientation will give you basic hands-on experience with horses. You do not have to be a member of HPL to volunteer.

However, if you wish to become a member, click the “Join Now” button on the right and fill out the online form.

We also grateful to volunteers who offer their special talents and abilities for helping HPL in many different ways (i.e. : office administrative task, fundraising, event coordination, board of directors participation, etc.)

Join Our Feeder Team!

We need your help! Feed once a week, once a month, or just help fill in from time to time. We will teach you everything you will need to know. The horses love the feeders! It’s one of the most rewarding, fun ways to help the horses.
